There has been an important update regarding the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) requirements for lithium battery products. As a result, some of the old certifications will become invalid and must be renewed according to the updates. What is CCC Certification?
CCC stands for China Compulsory Certification. It is a mandatory certification required for certain product groups, as defined in the “Catalogue of Products Subject to Compulsory Product Certification.” Products falling within this category must obtain CCC certification before being shipped to the Chinese market. CCC certification ensures compliance with Chinese quality and safety standards, similar to the European CE system.
Updated CCC Requirements for Lithium Battery Products
We would like to draw your attention to the latest version of the “Catalogue of Products Subject to Compulsory Product Certification,” which was issued on September 23, 2022. This update includes two specific items related to Li-ion batteries. Here are the details:
1. Movable Power Supply (0914):
- Weight: Less than 18kg
- Includes Lithium cells or Lithium battery packs
- The power supply has AC/DC in/out functionality
- Applicable products: Movable power supply, Power banks, Portable energy storage power supply, Outdoor power supply
- Test standard: GB4943.1, BG31241
2. Li-ion Cell Packs (0915):
- Rechargeable Li-ion cells or battery packs
- Applicable to Li-ion batteries and battery packs for portable electronic products such as portable office products, mobile communication products, portable audio/video products, E-books, etc.
- Test standard: GB31241 (Note: E-cigarettes are excluded)
Please note that not all Li-ion batteries require CCC certification. It is applicable only if the battery’s intended application is for portable products or power banks. Other applications may not fall under the CCC obligation.
